Leaves may be falling (outside of Southern California)...

...but auditions and projects are picking up!

I'm very pleased to report that I recently shot part of an episode of My Crazy Ex, as well as a principal role in an episode of a new BuzzFeed series, airing exclusively on Verizon's new Go90 app. The series is going to be called Relationship Goals, and I play a woman on a promising first date that goes awry due to some lousy performance art and--you guessed it--a crazy ex.

I had a fantastic time on both shoots. Both crews were supremely professional and fun, and I hope to work with them again!

Happy November, everyone. Now I'm off to nurse my candy hangover...

Happy New Year!

I took a little break from social media/website-ing during the holidays (mostly to eat barbecue and shoot off fireworks in Austin, Texas--worth it). But that doesn't mean things haven't been as busy as ever!

In late December, I completed level 201 improv at UCB and had my graduation performance. I've also been approved to move on to level 3. I've started working with some other improvisers to form a team, and we expect to be performing together within the next couple of months.

More immediately, I'm starting sketch comedy writing classes at iO West (http://ioimprov.com/west/). I'm very excited about this, as I've always enjoyed the sketch format.

Finally, I'm very pleased to announce that I'm now being represented commercially by Rascals Talent Agency (http://rascalstalent.com/)! I look forward to the new opportunities to come with this partnership. I'm still actively pursuing theatrical representation.

As ever, I continue to attend casting director workshops at The Actor's Key in Burbank: http://www.actorskey.com/

2014 was a major year for me: I performed in 3 plays, graduated with my MFA in Acting, moved to LA, shot an indie film, booked and shot my first TV episode, started writing a webseries, advanced two levels at UCB, and made some incredibly meaningful personal and professional connections throughout. But I'm focused on 2015 being just as busy, challenging, and meaningful.

Happy New Year!

October update

October's been a busy month!

I had a wonderful headshot session with Rose Hogan of www.rosehoganphotography.com; the retouches should be done by next week, at which point I'll post them up here. Rose is a very talented photographer and lovely to work with--I highly recommend shooting with her!

I've also been taking level 201 improv classes at Upright Citizen's Brigade, studying with Jill Donnelly. Our graduation show will be on December 21 at the UCB main stage in Hollywood.

I got my scream-queen on working for The Basement: a Live Escape Room Experience in Sylmar, where I got to terrorize visitors a few nights a week. Check it out if you're in the area, and you may hear my scream piped through the sound system as you solve puzzles and try to get out in time. It's an extremely fun and challenging new event, and it's already very popular; Neil Patrick Harris just tweeted his recommendation! I'm happy to have been part of getting it off the ground. (Go to www.thebasementla.com if you want to check it out.)

Finally, the episode of Bad Judge that I shot will air tomorrow, Thursday October 30 at 9pm on NBC. I'm very excited to see the finished product!

Bad Judge episode 6!

Wow, what a whirlwind couple of weeks!

I wrapped shooting on Appetites, an indie horror film, in which I play a well-meaning busybody waitress. I also performed in my UCB 101 graduation show at the UCB theatre. Major thanks to our fabulous teacher Betsy Stover for the challenging work we did together--and for her impeccable ear for comedy.

The big news this week is shooting at NBC studios for an episode of the new sitcom "Bad Judge," starring Kate Walsh. I was so thrilled to be called in for a co-star part on this episode, and I was over the moon when I booked it! I'm playing one of several jurors who cause problems for Judge Wright when she tries to cut out of jury duty.

Cast and crew have all been wonderful, and it's so thrilling to be in a room with comic knockouts like Ms. Walsh and Rob Riggle. It's been such a privilege to work with both of them, and with the other wonderful co-stars!

Thanks, thanks, and ever thanks to Kiki Ruud and Geraldine Leder, who called me in after seeing my UCB showcase. I can't wait to finish out day 2!

UCB Improv 101 graduation show

I have had an amazing 6 weeks training at the Upright Citizens Brigade under a total powerhouse teacher, Betsy Stover. I've trained extensively in improv before, both at the Second City Training Center in Chicago and with Gary Izzo (author of "The Art of Play: The New Genre of Interactive Theatre"). This new class marks the longest time, however, that I've spent focusing on principles of long-form improv comedy rather than short-form, competitive, or interactive improv.

I'm learning a lot, and I'm thrilled to be performing with my lovely and talented classmates at the UCB Theatre on September 6!

"Knock Knock" at USC

I just wrapped shooting on "Knock Knock," a student film at USC. I played a woman plagued by a series of near-fatal accidents who must finally confront Death himself. It was a great experience all around, and I'm very excited to have my first LA production experience under my belt!

Out West

Happy 5th of July!

I'm very pleased to announce that I've moved in to a lovely place in North Hollywood, where I'm living with my best friend and comedy writing partner. We've already started the prep work for a secret project that I will announce ASAP. Very excited to be out here in the sunshine, and I'm ready to hit the ground running!

The Tempest

I am thrilled to announce that I've been cast as an understudy for The Tempest, the current mainstage production at the American Repertory Theater. This show features music by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, as well as magic designed by Teller (of Penn & Teller). It has a 1930's Dust Bowl-feel in its design aesthetic, and it's co-directed by Teller and Aaron Posner.

I'm very excited to begin understudy rehearsal and to get to know this talented company of actors, musicians, and magicians!

The [Best?] Coast

I've been back for a couple weeks now, but I wanted to mention what a wonderful experience I had at our showcase in Los Angeles. We performed for two days at the Matrix Theater on Melrose Ave., and the response was great! I'm very optimistic about the professional relationships I've begun to forge on the west coast. California will be a new adventure for me, one I'm very excited to take on.

NYC Showcase 2014

The other 16 actors in my MFA class and I had a very successful industry showcase this past Monday at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row. I'm very excited for the responses my class is getting from industry professionals, and I can't wait for the West Coast leg of our showcase tour next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Matrix Theater in LA.
